 Dr Ian Leitch Retirement

Dr. Ian Leitch, Barb, and Brenda's Retirement

Many of you will have received Dr. Leitch’s retirement announcement letter several months ago. Although we miss Ian, Barb, and Brenda, we are happy to see they are doing well and loving retirement and being able to enjoy a lot of extra family time. Although due to COVID-19 restrictions we were not able to have a large retirement party, we still had a wonderful evening with a few people to celebrate! Everyone enjoyed the videos that so many of you sent us over the summer.

EMS Airflow System for Dental Implants

Recently, we have added a new tool to our hygiene department that has proven to be an extremely helpful asset! The EMS Airflow system is a gentle way of removing stain and buildup from your teeth, particularly for patients with extreme sensitivity, orthodontic brackets, and dental implants. We have had great success at improving tissue health around implants and preventing bacteria from building up around hard to reach areas. If you would like to know more about it please ask us at your next hygiene appointment.

Introducing Keely and Samantha

This year has brought many changes to our office, and many of you have realized the value of regular dental care during the coronavirus closure. As a result, we have been overwhelmed with demand for dentistry since reopening! With the growth of our practice and the retirement of some key staff we have added several new faces to our team over the past year. Please introduce yourself to Keely and Samantha next time you are in our office!

Keely, a Certified Dental Assistant, hails from Nelson, BC, but loves it here in the Okanagan since relocating. She is an avid hiker and is enjoying the many mountains to climb around Okanagan Lake!

Samantha, a Dental Receptionist, is from Westbank. She loves to garden, hike, and camp in the summer. Although she will be behind plexi-glass for the foreseeable future, please introduce yourself to her if you have not already met!

Thank You

From all of us at Okanagan Dentistry, we want to thank you for being so flexible and accommodating our screening, mask, and scheduling protocols during this pandemic. These rules have been put in place to keep everyone who enters our space safe and healthy, and so far, we have had great success with strict screening. We will continue to do so until this pandemic is over, and we hope to return to “normal” at some point soon! Until then, we are committed to staying open to provide for your dental needs while following guidance from WorkSafe BC, the College of Dental Surgeons of BC, and the BC Provincial Health Officer.

While the vast majority of our patients have been more than gracious in following these guidelines, we have had some people with questions or concerns regarding the changes we have implemented.  We are more than happy to provide information regarding our protocols and are open to answering any questions. As a reminder, masks are mandatory in common areas within our office, and we ask that you come to your appointment alone to keep our numbers under control, unless you are the parent or caregiver of a patient. Please be prepared to have your temperature taken and screening questions asked even if you are not receiving treatment.
