Oral Health Month

Oral health is an important aspect of overall health and wellbeing, and every year in the month of April Canada celebrates National Oral Health Month in. Oral Health Month was created to promote good oral health practices and raise awareness about the importance of dental hygiene.

Prevention is key when it comes to maintaining good oral health!

This means taking steps to prevent tooth decay, gum disease, and other dental issues before they become serious problems. A thorough screening by your dentist at Okanagan Dentistry is also an important way to avoid missing changes that can happen to the bone and gums that could even save your life!

No matter how many times you visit us, it is just as important to practice proper dental hygiene at home. This includes brushing your teeth at least twice a day for at least two minutes with a fluoride-containing toothpaste, and flossing daily using good technique. In addition, too-frequent consumption of sugary and acidic foods and drinks can contribute to tooth decay and acid erosion through promoting the “bad” bacteria that cause these issues.

Poor oral health has been linked to a variety of health issues, including heart disease, diabetes, and even certain types of cancer. By taking care of their oral health, you can help reduce their risk of developing health problems.

National Oral Health Month is an important initiative that promotes good overall health and wellbeing. If you feel that your oral health needs a boost, call us anytime at Okanagan Dentistry!
