Our New Look… Okanagan Dentistry!

We are pleased to introduce our new name, Okanagan Dentistry! For many years, Drs. Leitch, Pada, and Salaberry have practiced under the name “Leitch Pada Salaberry Dentistry” (LPS Dentistry). With the addition of Dr. Evan Wiens they have decided to streamline their practices to make things easier and more efficient for their patients. Drs. Pada and Salaberry are now “Gentle Dental Kelowna” and Drs. Leitch and Wiens are “Okanagan Dentistry.” We have the same location and the same great teams, just a new name and a new updated look! We also have new phone numbers and new extended hours.

Weloming Kevin back

Kevin worked with us for 18 years starting in 1990. After a brief retirement and a stint doing dental hygiene in long term care, he decided he could not stay away from our office! Ian was very happy to have him back in the office as well and we are sure many of his patients will be excited to see him. We look forward to having him as part of our team again!

Wrong Place at the Wrong Time!

On July 21 of this year Ian was returning from an implant course in Seattle when he was hit in his car by a drunk driver. His sternum was broken on the seat belt and he suffered from a concussion as well. This resulted in a long stay at Kelowna General Hospital and 6 weeks of recovery from his injuries.

He was humbled and overwhelmed by the many well wishes and expressions of caring and support that he received from many of you, and he had the most amazing care from the staff at KGH. He said, “I can’t truly express in words how much that meant to me. I feel so fortunate to live in such a supportive community.”

During his time off he realized how much dentistry is a part of his life. He is happy to be back at the office and is very thankful to have survived a very serious accident, and he would like to thank family, friends, and patients for helping him through it, especially with everyone who put up with his limited schedule during recovery. Ian looks forward to many more years of caring for his patients!

Evan’s New Baby

On July 7, 2013 Evan and his wife Jennifer welcomed their first child, Holden, into the world! Unlike most kids, the hours before his birth involved a helicopter ride! Holden had a rare condition called gastroschisis, which required him to be born at BC Women’s Hospital. Unfortunately, Jen went into labour in Abbotsford. After a fun-filled ride by helicopter to Women’s, Holden was born happy and healthy at a very light weight of 4.4 pounds. He was not so happy after his first of two surgeries, however. After a 6 week stay in Children’s Hospital in their amazing NICU, they were finally homebound.

Now the whole family is back in Kelowna for good, and Holden is doing extremely well; he has tripled in size. Ask Evan about the little man and he will likely have a very recent photo on hand!
