No one wants to spend a ton of time in a dentist chair, no matter how comfortable our Kelowna Dentists make your stay! We understand that. Prevention is the best way to reduce the visits you need for restorative procedures. Our Kelowna dental clinic has four ways of reducing your risk, and this article will explain how each one works.
Oral Hygiene Maintenance
Did you know that brushing and flossing at home is usually not sufficient to maintain complete oral health? Our dentists will take a look at all the hard and soft tissues in the head and neck and make sure everything is optimal. That’s right, the oral hygiene examinations go beyond your teeth!
After a full clean, you'll receive lessons on how to take care of your mouth as best as possible when you're at home.
Comprehensive Exams
If you’re a new patient at our Kelowna dental clinic, you’ll receive a Comprehensive Exam. It includes all necessary X-rays, photos, a review of medical and dental history, inspection of soft tissue in the head and neck, examination of teeth for decay and how they fit together, as well as a look at gum condition and bone support. Lastly, we will have a discussion with you around our findings and recommendations.
Mouthguards and Night Guards
Have you been grinding your teeth at night? Or waking up with sore jaw muscles or even an awareness of your teeth? This can cause irreversible damage over time, and to correct it you’ll need a night guard for your teeth.
Our Kelowna dentists can also construct a sports mouthguard to protect you or your children from teeth and jaw joint damage in contact sports. Low cost generic mouth guards can be uncomfortable and wear out quickly, while some may even make teeth grinding worse. You will maximize the benefit by catering a mouthguard exactly to your mouth size.
Digital X-Rays
Digital X-Rays are extremely clear and accurate. They’re necessary to get a clear picture of any decay or other problems that need addressing in your mouth. The level of radiation is very low, but if you have any concerns please ask our dental staff! If you’re pregnant and concerned about the procedure, please let us know as well.
