At Okanagan Dentistry, we value education for all ages! When our young patients come to visit us, we love to teach them about dental care and the importance of oral health to their whole bodies. As the kids go back to school this week, we would like to support them in their education at school and at the dental office!

At Okanagan Dentistry, we encourage our young patients to see us for an examination once their first baby teeth make an appearance. The official recommendation of the BC Dental Association is to have a child’s first dental visit by 1 year old or within 6 months of the eruption of the first tooth. While this may seem early, there are many issues in dental development that can present even at this young age.

 In addition, the younger a person is able to have positive experiences in the dental environment the less likely they are to develop fear and anxiety with respect to dental treatment. We love making our office a fun place for kids to visit!

 Kids age 3 and under who have never seen a dentist are welcome to come check out our office for a complimentary dental exam. At their first “happy visit,” they will go for a ride in the dental chair, learn about how to take care of their teeth at home, and learn how to “open wide” for their first examination.
